What's for Breakfast, Mi Amor?

What's for Breakfast, Mi Amor?

What do Americans eat for breakfast?  I guess it depends on who you ask.  But what do people think of when they hear the words, "American Breakfast"? Most likely, people probably think of bacon and eggs, sausages, fluffy pancakes topped with jam or butter, waffles drenches in any number of syrups, and, of course, coffee and orange juice.
When I went to El Salvador with my husband in 2008, I was shocked not only at how much better their breakfast tasted compared to ours in the states, but how much healthier it was as well!

What's the standard desayuno over there? There is a lot of variety just like here, but it generally consists of a few staples:  Usually some sort pan Frances, or French bread.  Probably some platanos fritos with a little brown sugar, perhaps some beans for protein, and of course, some crema to dip everything in.  And maybe some atole if you've been good to your mama.  Cafe and jugo de naranja are just as popular over there as it is here.
